“I share my latest sculpture in progress. This is part of a series of Imaginative Portrait Heads that is supposed to be shown in PUCE in November but with the state of things as they are who knows? The basic parameters are to sculpt within the context of creative freedom what I find visually intriguing They generally have an elongated format, reach the maximum height of the kiln (72cm) and are made of ceramic. This idea came about when a friend observed a previous sculpture and misread it as if a figure was part of its face. I decided to sculpt a full head comprised of figures. It is not something that has not been done before, but never this way. It reminds me a bit of an Arcimboldo painting of a head made of fruit and a hell scene from a Northern European panel painting by Jan Van Eyke (visual artist's citations). I thought of "Tears of Shame" as a title because the breasts form tears in the eyes and the head represents sort of an orgy scene, but I am undecided”.
